Whether you are a beginner or a serious Scrabble player, this is the starting point for all you need to know about Scrabble in India. The Scrabble Association of India unites Scrabble players across the country and conducts regular events and tournaments in different cities.
At present, we have our members concentrated in centres such as Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Goa, Vadodara and Kolkata. However, we are always looking at spreading across different cities in India through promotion and events.

The Karnataka State Scrabble Association (KSSA) had organised a 4-day Scrabble tournament from May 26-29. Over 100 participants, including a few from overseas, participated in the event held at the Mu Sigma campus in Whitefield, Bangalore.![]()
There were 4 divisions, based on players' ratings, including a newbie division for Scrabble enthusiasts who had no prior tournament experience.![]()
Sherwin Rodrigues of Mumbai won the expert division after competing in 33 gruelling games. R. Nalini of Bangalore won the premier division.![]()
Jyoti Budhia of Chennai won the challenger division after competing in 23 games. Mohit Goyal won the one-day enthusiast division.

*Aditya Iyengar wins 22nd National Championship*![]()
The 22nd National Scrabble Championship was held at Otters Club in Mumbai from 22nd to 24th April. The tournament saw a first-time winner in 21-year-old Aditya Iyengar, who won 19 out of 25 games at a spread of 1366 to clinch the top spot in the Premier Division.![]()
Akshay Bhandarkar finished second with 19 wins at a spread of 1116, while defending champion Sherwin Rodrigues, who had won the previous edition in 2019, finished third with 18 wins at a spread of 1446. The Premier Division featured 27 players in all.![]()
In the Open Division, which saw 24 players, the top three positions were taken by Kala Ganesh (17 wins at a spread of 1428), Neeta Bhatia (17 wins at 880) and Vimisha Patel (16 wins at 568).

After a hiatus of two years, the 2022 edition of India’s National Scrabble Championship was held at Otters Club in Mumbai from
22nd to 24th April.![]()
The tournament produced a first-time winner in 21-year-old Aditya Iyengar from Pune, who is currently a student at IIT Bombay. Iyengar beat top seed and nine-time national champion Sherwin Rodrigues of Mumbai by 105 points (491 to 386) in the deciding final round, which gave him 19 wins from 25 games with a spread of 1366 points. ![]()
