Child prodigy Madhav Gopal Kamath from Delhi has become the first Indian to win the World Youth Scrabble Championships (WYSC)! All of 14 years, the young lad won the Under 18 Championships comfortably, with a game to spare, winning 20 of 23 games, defeating Adulqudus Olawale from Nigeria (who finished 2nd) in the 23rd round to take an unassailable lead. Bangalore boy Suyash Manchali who was last years runners up finished 5th, making it 2 Indians in the top 5 for the 2nd year in a row.

The strong Indian contingent of 12 players were supported by the Essar Foundation and lead by team coach and mentor Neeta Bhatia. Madhav, with this win now breaks in to the top 5 ranking in the Seniors.

This win will give a big boost to youth Scrabble in India
