iGATE Global Solutions, the integrated technology and operations (iTOPS) company and Karnataka State Scrabble Association (KSSA) are proud to announce the 8th consecutive International Scrabble Tournament to be held in iGATE campus in Whitefield, Bangalore  from January 20, 2012 to January 22, 2012.

Special feature: Two divisions and more prizes!

 
The three-day tournament will have a total prize award of over Rs. 600,000 (about 13,500 USD).

Date: January 20,21and 22, 2012

Venue: iGATE Global Solutions, Whitefield, Bangalore.

 

Premier Division

1st prize – Rs.2,50,000 (about US $ 5600)

2nd prize – Rs.1,25,000 (about US $ 2800)

3rd prize – Rs.     75,000 (about US $ 1,700)

4th prize – Rs.     25,000

5th prize – Rs.     20,000

Entry fee: Rs.3,000

 

Open Division (Eligibility-WESPA rating 1499 and below)

1st prize – Rs. 45,000 (about US$ 1,000)

2nd prize – Rs. 22,000

3rd prize – Rs. 15,000

and prizes up to the 7th place.

Entry fee Rs.2,000.

Late Registration: Entries registered after January 1, 2012, will have to pay an extra amount of Rs 500.

 

*other exciting special pr izes will be announced later. Please note that pr ize money is subject to tax deduction at source as applicable.

Format: A minimum of 26 games of 50 minutes each will be played over three days. Word source will be the latest Collins Scrabble Tournament and Club Word List 2011.

Challenge: 5-point penalty per word, the player does not lose turn.

9:00 am. Session Starts.
Eight games to be played during the day.

 

5.30 pm prize distribution.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks arrangements will be provided on all three days of the tournament. Local conveyance will be arranged for participants to the venue and back (Collective pick up and drop arrangement)

 

 Entry fee:   The tournament is conducted by KSSA who will collect the entry fee. The association promotes competitive scrabble in Karnataka, and in association with the Scrabble Association of India the rest of the country as well. Entry fee can be paid on the day of the tournament.
